Not all scientists are drably-dressed boffins - and two cool academics from Manchester are determined to prove it.
PhD student Sophie Powell, from The University of Manchester and Sam Illingworth, a science communication lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University has launched a fashion blog to celebrate all things stylish in science.
The new blog, called Sartorial Science, invites scientists to send in snaps of themselves and share cocktail dresses fashion inspiration.
The Tumblr site has proved a hit with scientists and fashionistas alike with entries pouring in from across the world.
Sophie and Sam insist the blog is not a ‘vanity project’, but a way of showing that scientists can be fashionable too.
Sophie, 24, who is researching arthritis, said: “Sartorial Science is all about challenging the stereotype of what a scientist looks like in the eyes of the public and actually, other colleagues.
“It’s really because, as a young woman, there’s a fear I won’t be taken seriously if I care about the way I look, which is kind of frustrating.”
Sophie also publishes a blog called The Scientific Beauty, where she explains the science behind the latest beauty products and writes about being a female researcher.

She added: “As a 14-year-old school girl, I was good at science but I remember feeling unsure if it was for me, as it seemed that it was for dowdy, middle-aged ‘boffins’..
“But hopefully this blog will challenge that. And I hope it will encourage young people into science when they realise that actually, we are real people with real interests.”
Sartorial Science is not just about selfies though. It is also a place to learn about each contributor’s research and interests.
Some of the blog’s visitors include clinical psychologists in Costa Rica and zoologists in Belgium.
Sam, 31, said: “I read an article about the terrible evening dresses sense of scientists and researchers, and it really annoyed me because it just isn’t true.
“We hope that this site encourages scientists to help us break down the stereotypical norms that they are associated with.
“We also hope it acts as an aspiration to others, demonstrating that scientists come in all shapes and sizes, many of which are fabulous.
“So far I have be very impressed sartorial elegance of my fellow colleagues.”

On the day of her latest collection unveiling, she let her designs do the talking by wearing a no-nonsense black Formal Dresses.

The frock made made the most of the superstar's slim silhouette, featuring spaghetti straps and a low-slung waist accentuated by a black suede belt.
Being Victoria, she of course completed her look with a pair of shades and killer black heels.

Two outfits in one day, Victoria Beckham really is embracing New York Fashion Week with open arms isn't she?

She's just unveiled her spring/summer 2016 collection so it was no surprise to see Mrs Beckham donning a piece from the line. The fabulous satin, crinkled dress was sent down the runway paired with pool sliders ready for next summer, but with Victoria opting to wear it in autumn and for a business meeting, she chose pumps to keep the look sophisticated.

The dress featured a drawstring neckline and an interesting belt design that made the bridesmaid dresses rather a talking point and we love it. Obviously, it's not yet available, but head to Farfetch (right) to shop the current Victoria, Victoria Beckham line.

If you're looking for a cute blue dress to wear in the meant time, look no further than the hot picks we've outlined for you below.

Wanna to dress and feel flirty? Here is a trick, dress red!

formal dresses australia

London - Whether it’s lipstick or a bright Formal Dresses, the colour red has long been associated with power and seduction.

But it’s apparently not just a cliche – wearing red does actually make women feel sexier, according to a study.

One in four women surveyed said they chose a red outfit when they wanted to look seductive, making it the most popular colour for impressing a potential partner.

One in six said wearing black made them feel sexiest – and the same proportion chose pink. The survey of 2,000 Britons found women felt the most confident wearing bridesmaid dresses – perhaps explaining its popularity in the workplace.

Men also favoured black when they wanted to feel at their best, with one in three choosing the colour.

Yellow was the most unpopular colour for both genders – with one in three respondents claiming they would never wear it.

Both men and women were also likely to feel unattractive in green.

Aside from clothing choices, around half of the 1,167 women who took part in the survey said getting enough sleep was particularly important to their wellbeing.

Food firm Alpro commissioned the survey to celebrate its sponsorship of the London Fashion Week. An Alpro spokesman said: ‘It seems that despite constantly changing fashions, it is the trusted shades that we turn to if we are dressing to impress, be it in the workplace or if we are trying to catch someone’s eye in a romantic sense.’
